I honestly wish I could write a post every other day. The only problem with that, is the fact that I am not provided with enough quality material on a day to day basis. Sure, I could take you down memory lane, tell you about all of my biggest scores, but that wouldn't do much but make me look like a braggart. I want to learn with you. I want to keep it current. I want this to be about the present and not the past. I want you to be able to see what you are actually capable of doing, today. So with that, lets see what I have been up to.
When you walk past a run of the mill toy lawnmower at a yard sale, do you ever think to look at it? If you saw this at a garage sale would you pay it any attention? Honestly, I wouldn't. BUT, it is actually my business to notice it. SO, we bought it.
Andrea was first to notice this Palmer Plastics 1970's Lawn Boy Junior Lawnmower. It is a battery operated toy lawnmower for children that want to be like daddy. These are actually very rare! One that was still in the package sold for almost $300! Well, we bought this one for $20. When I got it home I noticed that the battery box was not connected to the motor, so I had to sell it untested. After a five day auction it ended at $42.01. A very easy double up.
This next item may very well be my most absolute favorite thing that we have ever bought on a Monday night. Sooooo..
This is Squawkers the McCaw. He was made by Hasbro in 2007 as part of the Fur Real Friends toy line. He is an interactive parrot with life like movements. Why was he my favorite item? Well, every Monday night, Andrea and I bring our five month old daughter Evie along with us. I usually carry her on my chest with a baby carrier. Cute, I know. Andrea was holding Evie at the time we won Squawkers, so I put the McCaw in the baby carrier. Even though this bird was in booth number two and had been sitting there for three hours, people started acting like this was the first time they saw it. I had at least three people ask me if he was a real bird, but my favorite part was my encounter with an old couple. As Andrea and I walked past them, the older gentleman said 'look at that bird' to his wife. She replied to him that 'they should know better.' I looked back at them with a smirk and whacked the bird on the head a few times to show them that their misgivings were unwarranted.
Anyway, we bought Squawkers for $20. I put him in our eBay Store for $79.99 and he sold within eight hours.
So that is what we have been up to these last two Mondays. We made a HUGE purchase on a Saturday night auction that I am quite excited about. Masters of the Universe.... my bread and butter. I haven't really decided if I am going to spew all of that knowledge on you all quite yet. Let me know what you think and maybe I will. Until next time, Keep Your Eyes Open.
